On this occasion, Dr. Pongpatai Kitrungloadjanaporn served as the representative of the inventor team to participate in the exhibition and manage the presentation booth. The program was designed to promote learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through hands-on learning experiences that encouraged students to explore, analyze, experiment, solve problems, and create solutions through active participation.

The program began with the “Wind Energy” activity, which introduced students to concepts related to wind energy and the application of scientific and technological knowledge through practical learning. The activity was led by Dr. Pongpatai Kijrungrojnaporn, Mr. Namchoke Khunmuenwong, Mr. Phatthanaphong Khonthiang, and Ms. Jiraporn Karaket.

Students then participated in “Blood Detective” (สืบจากเลือด), an activity designed to develop scientific thinking through observation, analysis, investigation, and systematic problem-solving. The activity was facilitated by Dr. Pongpatai Kijrungrojnaporn, Mr. Namchoke Khunmuenwong, Mr. Phatthanaphong Khonthiang, and Ms. Jiraporn Karaket.

In the afternoon, students took part in “Fast & Furious”, an activity that encouraged them to apply scientific and technological knowledge through designing, experimenting, and problem-solving. The learning process emphasized hands-on practice and teamwork, facilitated by Dr. Pongpatai Kijrungrojnaporn, Mr. Namchoke Khunmuenwong, Mr. Phatthanaphong Khonthiang, and Ms. Jiraporn Karaket.

The program concluded with a Debrief, Reflection, and Expanded Knowledge session, allowing students to review what they had learned, reflect on their experiences, and explore how scientific and technological knowledge could be applied to robotics innovation in everyday life. Awards and certificates were also presented to participants to recognize their achievements and encourage continued engagement in learning.

The activity was officially opened by Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyachat Jittatham, Director of the Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University, who welcomed Prof. Dr. Sompop Prathumraksarak, Vice President for Strategic Planning, Quality Development and Social Engagement, Mahidol University, together with teachers and students from Phra Tamnak Suankularb Mahamongkol School, comprising three teachers and 44 students. The activity aimed to provide children and young people with opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences, creative problem-solving, and innovation development.

The Robot War activity was designed around the learning process of “Design, Build, Improve and Battle.” Participants first became familiar with the equipment, mission objectives, rules, and basic principles of robot operation. They then worked in teams to design and build their own robots, including designing the robot structure, cutting and assembling the body, installing motors and wheels, and developing other components in preparation for the competition.

A key feature of the activity was learning through experimentation, competition, analysis, and continuous improvement. Participants competed in multiple rounds and used the results of each round to identify strengths and weaknesses and refine their robot designs. Improvements included adjustments to the robot structure, wheel positioning, strength, and balance before entering the final round. This process provided students with an engaging and meaningful opportunity to experience the Engineering Design Process in an authentic learning environment.

The activity was facilitated by Dr. Phongphatai Kitirungrojnaporn and the IL instructor team, who provided guidance and support throughout the learning process. The activity emphasized teamwork, communication, problem-solving, systematic thinking, and creativity, encouraging students to collaborate and develop their own solutions through hands-on practice.

Beyond the excitement of building and battling robots, the activity was designed to develop essential 21st-century skills. Students were encouraged to experiment, test their ideas, make adjustments, and learn from mistakes. These experiences provide an important foundation for developing innovative thinking, resilience, creativity, and the confidence to become future creators and innovators of technology.

The organization of the Young Innovators Camp under the One Mahidol One Tambon Project – Children’s University @ Salaya reflects the Institute for Innovative Learning’s role in translating its expertise in STEM Education, Learning Innovation, Robotics, and Experiential Learning into meaningful learning experiences for children and young people. The conference also featured special panel discussions addressing key issues, including “Future Sustainable Competency or Skills?”, “Young Leaders and Collaborative Skills for Ocean Conservation: Small Steps Today to Pass on the Ocean to Future Generations,” “Digital and Innovation Skills,” and “Lifelong Learning and Adaptability.”

As part of Activity 3: Student Group Workshops, Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyachat Jittatham served as a facilitator for Group 1: “Design Your Path Today for the Impact You Want Tomorrow.” The workshop, entitled “Design Your Own Learning Journey,” provided an interactive space for students from the four participating institutions to explore and reflect on their aspirations, interests, strengths, and future learning needs.

Participants learned how to design learning experiences based on the real needs and challenges of learners and their communities. The process covered understanding people and contexts, defining problems, generating ideas, and developing prototypes of possible solutions through hands-on activities, collaborative learning, and the exchange of perspectives.

On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Namkhang Srivattanarotai, Deputy Director for Education and Network Development, and Dr. Patcharaphan Siriwat, Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University, were invited as speakers. They shared their expertise and experience in Design Thinking and Learning Design, translating these concepts into practical learning processes that enable teachers to connect innovation with real-world educational contexts and apply the acquired tools directly in their classrooms.

The program featured a special lecture by Clinical Professor Emeritus Dr. Udom Kachintorn, Member of the Mahidol University Council, on “Reinventing Higher Education: Transforming Education to Develop a New Generation of Graduates in the AI Era.” The workshop also featured a presentation by Prof. Dr. Pharm. Sompop Prasertbunyarak, Vice President for Strategic Planning, Quality Development and Social Engagement, Mahidol University, on “Institute Accreditation by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).”

The workshop also provided a platform for collaborative discussion and idea exchange on key educational development initiatives, including “Developing Mahidol AI Literacy & Competency Framework,” “Enhancing Experiential Learning across All Programs,” “Undergraduate Degree with Micro-Credentials,” and “High School Credit Bank.” These discussions explored flexible educational pathways from secondary education to higher education, experiential learning, and the development of essential competencies for the effective use of Artificial Intelligence.

Emphasizing hands-on learning, the program encouraged students to actively participate in experiments, design and create solutions, and learn from their own experiences while connecting scientific and technological knowledge with practical applications.

The first activity, “Who Is the Culprit???”, was conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Watcharee Kespichaiyarong and Ms. Atcharaphan Phothong. The activity engaged students in an investigative learning process that encouraged them to observe, analyze information, connect evidence, and apply reasoning to identify possible answers. The activity supported the development of systematic thinking and problem-solving skills through a scientific approach.

The second activity, “Bath Bomb,” was conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pirom Chenprakhon and Ms. Atcharaphan Phothong. Students learned through hands-on experimentation while exploring scientific concepts related to chemical reactions and the factors affecting the process through the creation of Bath Bomb products. The activity enabled students to recognize the connection between scientific knowledge and practical applications in everyday life.

The third activity, “Roller Coaster,” was conducted by Ms. Atcharaphan Phothong, Mr. Jaturong Payomyaem, and Ms. Jiraporn Karaket. Students explored the process of designing and constructing a Roller Coaster model, followed by testing and improving their designs based on the results. The activity promoted design thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork, while allowing students to learn through experimentation and iterative improvement.

The workshop concluded with a “Closing Section: Knowledge Review, Reflection, and Expanded Knowledge – Applying Programming Knowledge to Robotics Innovation in Everyday Life.” Students reviewed the knowledge and experiences gained throughout the activities, reflected on their learning, and explored ways to connect scientific and technological knowledge with everyday applications and future innovation. The activity concluded with the presentation of awards and certificates, followed by a group photo.

The workshop demonstrated the Institute for Innovative Learning’s contribution to translating its expertise in learning innovation, educational technology, and experiential learning into meaningful learning experiences for students. The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyachat Jittatham, Director of the Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University, during the Institute’s 11th Personnel and Unit Meeting of 2026. The event marked the official launch of the safety month initiative, which aims to encourage all personnel to recognize the importance of workplace safety and actively participate in creating a safe working and learning environment.

Following the opening, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pirom Chenprakhon, Deputy Director for Research and Innovation, officially opened the safety-related activities. One of the key activities was the annual review of the Active Shooter Emergency Response Plan 2026, led by Dr. Phongphatai Kijrungrojnaporn, Secretary of the Institute’s Occupational Health, Safety, and Working Environment Committee.

The session provided an opportunity for IL personnel to review emergency response procedures, strengthen their understanding of appropriate actions during critical incidents, and enhance their readiness to respond effectively to potential emergencies.
