The Institute for Innovative Learning (IL), Mahidol University<\/strong>, participated in the Mahidol University Educational Policy Development Committee Workshop<\/strong>, organized by the Division of Academic Administration, Mahidol University, on September 1, 2026<\/strong>, at the DUANGKAMOL Room, 2nd Floor, The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok. Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyachat Jittatham, Director of the Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University<\/strong>, attended the workshop as part of the university-wide effort to shape the future direction of education.<\/p>\n

The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Pharm. Neti Suksomboon, Vice President for Education, Mahidol University<\/strong>. The program featured a special lecture by Clinical Professor Emeritus Dr. Udom Kachintorn, Member of the Mahidol University Council<\/strong>, on \u201cReinventing Higher Education: Transforming Education to Develop a New Generation of Graduates in the AI Era.\u201d<\/strong> The workshop also featured a presentation by Prof. Dr. Pharm. Sompop Prasertbunyarak, Vice President for Strategic Planning, Quality Development and Social Engagement, Mahidol University<\/strong>, on \u201cInstitute Accreditation by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop also provided a platform for collaborative discussion and idea exchange on key educational development initiatives, including \u201cDeveloping Mahidol AI Literacy & Competency Framework,\u201d \u201cEnhancing Experiential Learning across All Programs,\u201d \u201cUndergraduate Degree with Micro-Credentials,\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cHigh School Credit Bank.\u201d<\/strong> These discussions explored flexible educational pathways from secondary education to higher education, experiential learning, and the development of essential competencies for the effective use of Artificial Intelligence.<\/p>\n

The workshop highlighted the need to transform educational systems in response to the rapidly changing technological landscape, particularly the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on learning, work, and society. Preparing students for the future requires more than academic knowledge; it also involves developing critical thinking, experiential learning capabilities, lifelong learning skills, and AI Literacy & Competency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In this context, the Institute for Innovative Learning<\/strong> plays an important role in supporting Mahidol University\u2019s educational transformation through its expertise in Learning Innovation, Educational Technology, Digital Learning, Learning Design, and learner and educator development<\/strong>. These areas of expertise enable IL to connect learning sciences, educational innovation, and emerging technologies with contemporary educational challenges.<\/p>\n

The participation of the IL Director reflects the Institute\u2019s contribution to university-level educational policy development<\/strong> through the exchange of perspectives and expertise, particularly in promoting flexible learning pathways, experiential learning, and the effective integration of Artificial Intelligence into education. It also provides an important opportunity to connect IL\u2019s academic knowledge and experience with broader university strategies and educational practices.<\/p>\n

The potential impact<\/strong> of these policy discussions extends from institutional policy and curriculum development to teaching practices and student learning. The initiatives aim to foster a more flexible and future-ready education system while equipping learners with the ability to learn continuously, adapt to change, and use AI responsibly, critically, and creatively<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Institute\u2019s participation therefore represents another important step in its commitment to \u201cbringing learning innovation into meaningful educational change.\u201d<\/strong> By working collaboratively with different units across Mahidol University, IL continues to contribute to the development of a learning ecosystem that responds to the demands of the digital and AI-driven era and prepares graduates to learn, adapt, innovate, and create meaningful value for society.<\/p>\n
