Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University Advances the Integration of Generative AI to Enhance the Doctor of Medicine Program under the Collaborative Project to Increase Production of Rural Doctors, August 5–6, 2026
The Institute for Innovative Learning (IL), Mahidol University played a key role in advancing the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) into medical education by supporting faculty development through the seminar “The Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Enhance the Educational Management of the Doctor of Medicine Program”, organized under the Collaborative Project to Increase Production of Rural Doctors (CPIRD) by the Division of Educational Management, Mahidol University. The seminar was held August 5–6, 2026, via Google Meet.
The seminar aimed to strengthen the capabilities of faculty members, administrators, and staff from Mahidol University’s affiliated Clinical Education Centers in applying Generative AI to curriculum planning, course design, teaching and learning, assessment, and constructive feedback. The initiative sought to enhance the quality of medical education while ensuring that learning experiences remain aligned with student needs, contemporary healthcare contexts, and the rapid evolution of educational technologies.
The workshop was led by distinguished experts from the Institute for Innovative Learning: Assistant Professor Dr. Piyachat Jittatham, Director of the Institute for Innovative Learning; Assistant Professor Dr. Watcharee Kespichaiyarong, Deputy Director for Administration; and Assistant Professor Dr. Namkhang Srivattanarotai, Deputy Director for Education and Network. Together, they delivered keynote lectures and facilitated hands-on workshops focusing on two major themes: Generative AI for Curriculum and Course Design and Generative AI for Assessment and Feedback. Participants explored practical strategies for using AI to design Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs), develop learning activities, ensure constructive alignment, create assessment tools and rubrics, generate meaningful feedback, and support evidence-based curriculum improvement.
The Institute’s contribution to this initiative reflects its recognized expertise in learning innovation, curriculum development, educational assessment, faculty development, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and the effective application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in higher education. Through knowledge transfer and professional development, IL continues to empower academic staff with innovative educational practices that strengthen teaching quality and enhance student learning outcomes.
This initiative also demonstrates the Institute for Innovative Learning’s commitment to supporting the continuous advancement of medical education by equipping educators with future-ready competencies. By fostering the responsible and effective use of AI in curriculum design, assessment, and feedback, IL contributes to the development of highly competent medical graduates who are prepared for lifelong learning and capable of addressing the evolving healthcare needs of communities and society.
