Mahidol University Organizes Workshop to Prepare for Undergraduate Curriculum Development and Design (Revised Curriculum B.E. 2571), Advancing Education through Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and AI

On June 13, 2026, Mahidol University, through the Division of Educational Management, organized the workshop entitled “Undergraduate Curriculum Development and Design for Revised Curriculum B.E. 2571 (2028), Round 1”. The workshop aimed to prepare academic staff and enhance understanding of curriculum design focusing on learning outcomes while responding to global trends in higher education. The event was held at the Conference Room, 1st Floor, Stang Mongkolsuk Building, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Phayathai Campus.

Institute for Innovative Learning Executives Supporting Educational Development

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Piyachat Jittam, Director of the Institute for Innovative Learning, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Namkang Sriwattanarothai, Deputy Director for Education and Network, participated as curriculum mentors throughout the workshop. Their involvement reflected the Institute’s commitment to supporting educational development and fostering collaborative learning across the University.

In addition, Assistant Professor Dr. Namkang Sriwattanarothai was honored as one of the keynote speakers and workshop facilitators, delivering a session on the Principles of Preparing the Curriculum Information Report (MU Degree Profile).

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Neti Suksomboon, Vice President for Education, Mahidol University. The workshop emphasized both knowledge sharing and hands-on practice for faculty members responsible for undergraduate programs to strengthen and elevate the University’s educational standards.

Workshop Highlights

  • Keeping Pace with Educational Innovation through AI
    Associate Professor Supawadee Prakunhungsit, M.D., Advisor to the President for Education, delivered a lecture on “AI-assisted Curriculum Design”, introducing approaches to integrating artificial intelligence into curriculum development.
  • In-depth MU Degree Profile Workshop
    A lecture and hands-on workshop on “Principles of Preparing Curriculum Information Reports (MU Degree Profile)” were conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Namkang Sriwattanarothai and Dr. Chanokporn Puapattanakul, Director of the Center for Life-integrated Learning, Mahidol University.
  • Small Group Workshop Sessions
    Participants engaged in practical activities using the MU-App to prepare key curriculum information and support curriculum design, including the development of Program Objectives and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) under the guidance of expert facilitators from various faculties.

Driving Outcome-Based Education (OBE)

The workshop series aims to strengthen curriculum development capabilities and will continue with the next session scheduled for August 1, 2026. The objectives include:

  • Enhancing understanding of curriculum design based on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach
  • Promoting the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in designing Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)
  • Developing effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies

The event attracted 73 faculty members responsible for undergraduate programs (Revised Curriculum B.E. 2571 / 2028) from seven faculties and institutes. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, encouraging broad exchange of ideas and collaborative discussion.
