The Institute for Innovative Learning (IL), Mahidol University, dispatched an expert instructor team to conduct a hands-on workshop titled “STEM & Robotics Camp (Robot War Activity)” for Grade 8 students at Chongko Hall, Maechan Wittayakom School, Chiang Rai Province. The workshop aimed to enhance computational thinking, practical microcontroller programming, and spark inspiration for applying robotics innovations to real-world context.
The one-day immersive workshop highlighted experiential learning on drive systems, motor controls, and radio wave communication using micro:bit boards. The IL Instructor Team—comprising Dr. Phongphatai Kitrungrojnaporn, Mr. Patcharasit Peechareon, and Mr. Numchok Khunmuenwong—guided students through every hands-on activity module:
- Motivation & Inspiration Technology & Module 1: Introduction to micro:bit & Expansion Boards
- Module 2: Robot Drive System Programming & Radio Communication
- Module 3: Robot Construction & Design
- Module 4: Robot War Mission Challenge & Closing Section (Debrief & Reflect)
Students entered their custom-built robots into the exciting Robot War arena challenge. The session wrapped up with a debrief and reflection led by the IL team to expand students’ programming concepts into daily life robotics innovations (Expanded Knowledge), followed by souvenir presentations and certificate awards.
