The Institute for Innovative Learning (IL), Mahidol University, was invited by the Ministry of Science and Technology to participate in the National Science and Technology Fair 2026, held under the theme “Intelligence in Science for a Sustainable Future” from August 15–23, 2026, at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.

As part of the event, IL presented the science laboratory activity “Polymer Lab: The Wonders of Polymers and Resin Art,” designed to provide children, students, and visitors with an engaging opportunity to explore scientific concepts through hands-on experimentation and creative learning.

The activity was opened and supported by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pirom Chenprakhon, Deputy Director for Research and Innovation, Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University, who participated in the activity and shared scientific knowledge with young learners and visitors.

The “Polymer Lab” introduced participants to fundamental scientific principles related to polymer materials and their applications in everyday life. Through an interactive learning experience, participants explored how resin can transform from a liquid into a solid through exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, allowing them to observe the relationship between scientific principles and real-world applications.

Beyond learning the underlying science, participants were encouraged to become active creators through a hands-on resin art workshop. They designed and produced their own creative pieces, including decorative items, display pieces, refrigerator magnets, coasters, and name tags. Participants could further personalize their creations using a variety of materials, such as glitter, pigments, and dried flowers, allowing scientific learning to connect with creativity and individual expression.

The activity reflects the Institute for Innovative Learning’s contribution to promoting STEM learning through experiential and hands-on approaches, transforming scientific concepts into accessible and engaging learning experiences. By combining science, experimentation, creativity, and design, IL creates opportunities for learners to understand scientific principles while developing skills in observation, problem-solving, experimentation, and creative thinking.

From an impact perspective, the activity helped bring science closer to everyday life by enabling participants to see, experiment with, and apply scientific knowledge through the creation of tangible products. This approach not only encourages curiosity and positive attitudes toward science and technology but also demonstrates how scientific knowledge can be transformed into meaningful learning experiences that learners can apply beyond the classroom.

Through its participation in the National Science and Technology Fair 2026, the Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University, continues to fulfill its role in connecting knowledge, innovation, and learning experiences with society, contributing to the development of science and technology literacy and inspiring the next generation of learners to explore, create, and innovate for a sustainable future.
