The Institute for Innovative Learning (IL), Mahidol University, organized the “Science and Innovation Exploration Workshop” for Grade 7 students enrolled in the Science, Mathematics, Technology and Environment (SMTE/SME) Program from Sirindhorn School, Surin Province, from July 22–24, 2026, at the Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus. The program also included educational visits to the Sirirukkhachati Nature Learning Park and the Siriraj Medical Museum, providing students with authentic learning experiences that broadened their perspectives on science, innovation, and health sciences.
Throughout the three-day workshop, students participated in a series of interactive STEM Education and Active Learning activities designed to promote inquiry, experimentation, creativity, and problem-solving. The workshop featured engaging hands-on activities including Slider Track, Wind Energy, Who Is the Culprit?, Extreme Force, Bath Bomb, and Blood Investigation, allowing students to integrate concepts from science, engineering, technology, and analytical thinking through practical exploration.
The activities were conducted by the Institute’s experienced STEM education team, including Assistant Professor Dr. Pirom Chenprakhon, Dr. Pongphathai Kijrungrojnaporn, Mr. Numchok Khunmuenwong, Mr. Patcharasit Peecharoen, Mr. Phattanaphong Khonthiang, Ms. Atcharapan Photong, and Mr. Jaturong Phayomyaem. Through close guidance and interactive instruction, the workshop fostered teamwork, communication, critical thinking, creativity, and engineering design skills while encouraging students to explore scientific concepts through experiential learning.
In addition to classroom-based activities, participants visited the Sirirukkhachati Nature Learning Park, where they explored medicinal plant gardens, participated in herbal learning activities, and created their own herbal inhalers. The program concluded with an educational visit to the Siriraj Medical Museum, where students gained valuable insights into medical science, human anatomy, pathology, forensic medicine, and the history of medicine. These experiences extended learning beyond the classroom and inspired students to pursue future studies in STEM and health-related disciplines.
Through programs such as the Science and Innovation Exploration Workshop, the Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University, continues to promote innovative STEM education by integrating scientific knowledge with authentic, hands-on learning experiences.
